Tight lines Mike! Just picked up a 2 week gig in Arlington VA so the next 3 weekends (including this one) are out. Hopefully I can make it out one weekend with you guys before the season closes. Gonna shoot for 8/21, 8/22, 8/28 or 8/29. I want to get the kid out once this season!

Figured with such a beautiful day on Saturday, the Sea Hawk would have been railed. Actually plenty of room onboard, maybe 25 fares.

Had pretty good action overall. Fished the deeper channel waters and they produce some nice keepers...fluke and seabass.

I had 2 keepers and T managed one. Her's went 5# 6oz and was good for the pool win.

Some nice seabass came up as well. One kid also bucked up a keeper striper.

Headed down to my cousin's summer place near bay head for a party. Brought my light spinners and gulp. Locals told me no real fish around, not even snappers. I caught a short fluke(16") on my first cast. Uncle had a short as well. T made a few casts but just a couple missed bites. Asides from some crabs eating the gulp tipped jigs and a couple tail-nipping bites, and a stick fish, that was it.

The one pic is of Nick the mate. My keepers were ok, just not photo-worthy, plus I played photographer for the boat's pics

The bass that was caught was loaded with fresh butterfish

well my brother in law had netted some peanuts, so I took the boat out this evening to drag them along the bottom.

just ran into the margate back bays a few places, and found some small flundies.

lost a NICE one... it was *on* and you know when you feel the head shake and rod bend it's got meat on it... just unbottoned half way up. The good thing is I learned where (and why) it hit and in those famous words (I'll be back). tried a few more times in that spot and picked up 1 barely keeper.

was running in and... stopped to help another boater out... though not sure if I'd do it again (at least not the same way!)
I was waved down by a fellow who had 3 ladies with him... out of gas. Said his brother had been using the boat and left him empty and he didn't realize it.

asked me to take one of the ladies to go find his cousin who was scooting around lakes bay somewhere, but then I offered to tow him.

he had a long rope, and I tied it off and did a slow tow to the back.

took much longer than I expected (remember, this was a first for me) and had to follow the channel back there, they were not marked all that well and it was very shallow outside of the channel.

eventually (back by the strip of cheap hotels) and finally ran into his cousin on the jet ski, they thanked me for the help and I scooted out of there, now about 8:30.

you have to stay in the channel back there, outside of it is less than 2' in places.

if I had to tow him back to the marina, I'm not sure I could have found the channel in the dark... was a bit nervous.

all in all though things turned out ok.

Apparently some guys are anchoring up and walking the rocks at the inlets and picking up triggers and tog. Not sure what the wreck guys are doing.

A lot of small sea bass invaded the back waters. In my drifts I was getting bait stolen and tapped by small things, which could be sea bass, croakers, kings, spot, whatnot.

Didn't have all that much time so I didn't drop any small rigs down to investigate further.

that was supposed to be "anchoring up and others just walking the rocks"...

meaning they are hitting them by boat and sand

Bucktailed up 3 keepers on the Sea Hawk Saturday. Tried the 6" Gulp grub and belly strips but they yielded shorts. Went back to old reliable, the 4" swim mullet and got the keepers.

My uncle is trying out bucktailing and he also managed 3 keepers.

Was rough but I was enjoying fishing a 2oz Spro in Ambrose. Uncle had a 3oz. T was down for the count. not feeling well. Quite a few onboard were seas sick. Was rough enough that something slid into my new Cabo and bent the handle

Finished the day in the bay with a slow pick of fish.

Think high hook was a handful of us with 3 keepers. Pool fish was around 4lbs, just beating out my three fish.

Heard they did a little better yesterday with high hook getting 5.
