Hi , I am getting a XSRA Ron Arra 11" 1 piece for my B-day. When I was originally searching for this rod on the Lamiglas website I downloaded the 2011 catalog and the only 2 11' Ron Arra spinning rods listed are the
XSRA 11' 1321-2 pc. rated @ 1-3 ozw lure weight and the XSRA 1322 1 pc rated 1-5 ozw. I opted for the 1 pc as I want the ability to throw more weight should the need arise. Upon looking at the website again but not in the (catalog PDF) they have the 1 and 2 pc XSRA rated exactly the same. Obviously a 2 pc is easier to transport and store, should I switch and get the 2 pc or stick with the one pc I have put a down payment on. Is there an appreciable difference in feel between a 1 pc and a 2 pc. Any advice would be appreciated. Henry |

The only difference is that you will probably damage the tip on the 1 piece rod at least once per year.
Seriously, there is no difference in the action or strength between a one and two piece rod. I think I probably have owned and used numerous graphite rods built on the same blank in one or two pieces and never could determine a difference. With the older E Glass Lami rods there is a difference. I speak with some experience, I started surf fishing 6 years before you were born. ![]()

I have to agree with Bob and, I've had about the same experience with numerous spinning and casting rods over the years.

I won't use a 2 piece for plugging.
Don't want to be bothered checking alignment or worry about loosing the tip.

I use both 1 piece & 2 piece, I experience no difference.
I plug with a 2 piece 9" lami surf & jetty and never had separation or misalignment but, then again I have never fought a 50 lb striper.. I believe in a quality rod, misalignment is a thing of the past when joined properly. Most folks I believe purchase 2 piece rods as a matter of travel & storage convenience and I would think the sale of 2 piece rods far outweigh the sale of 1 piece. |

To reassure, think of the fresh water fly fisherman who are perhaps the most finicky tackle junkies on the planet where one piece rods do not exist and more chances of 4 or 5 piece rods are common.
