"The Sixth Christmas"

Christmas is now just days away and we would like to extend to all our readers and clients our wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a much better 2010! Not just a "Happy New Year" for you and us but for all Americans and Canadians who have been "weathering the storm" of the current recession.

2009 has not been a great year for most people but it's one we will long remember. Revenues in the recreational sportfishing industry, including StriperSurf.com, dropped dramatically in 2009. It was no big deal for me, I've never collected a "salary." In spite of that visitors to the web site increased for the 10th consecutive year so we must be doing something right.

I continue to believe that we help bring new men and women into saltwater fishing by providing them with a huge volume of information organized in a way that is easy to follow and learn. Above all else we continue to present the information in such a way that the responsibility and ethics our hobby demands are passed on to each new person. We are after all just the caretakers for the next generation.ENLARGE: Al Bentsen Photo courtesy StriperSurf Club

In 2009 we lost one of our major contributors and a legend in saltwater striped bass fishing, Al Bentsen of the Striper Surf Club of Long Island, NY. The information shared by Al on StriperSurf's Frank Daignault Forum is priceless and we will surely miss him. That information will remain online as long as we are around.

I would be very remiss not to recognize the enormous impact that Frank Daignault has and continues to make on behalf of StriperSurf. I think Frank has answered more questions online or in print than just about anyone in the sportfishing industry. Oftentimes the same questions each year, dating back ten years. That takes a very dedicated and gracious man.   More »

Here are two pictures of nearly identical size striped bass caught in June. One was caught in a historic, world famous fishing spot off of Cuttyhunk Island, Massuchesetts and the second was caught about one half mile off the Lavallette, NJ coast. They both shared something in common, of course the skill of the fishermen but other traits deal with Superior Design and Maximum Quality. Want to learn more? Just click on either picture.
